Earthdance is dedicated to making all members of the community feel welcome and as safe and respected as possible during our annual programming and jams. Earthdance is committed to honoring, nurturing, and advancing contact improvisation, somatics, and all movement forms with an awareness of diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity in all aspects of its programming, services, and organization. We encourage all those attending Earthdance events and programs to be sensitive to and aware of issues of equity, inclusion, and diversity. We recognize that we all have implicit bias, that we all make mistakes in growing our capacity to understand what equity feels like. Nevertheless, we ask that you take on a degree of self-awareness and care around your biases when engaging with others at Earthdance so that everyone can feel as safe and respected as possible.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and harassment-free experience for ALL involved in Earthdance events. Harassment or offensive behavior (which may include slurs, epithets, unwanted sexual advances, discrimination, demeaning comments, exclusion from participation, and threats of any kind) will not be tolerated. If you find yourself in a situation where you feel your safety is at risk or experience inappropriate behavoirs or demeaning comments, or you witness these with someone else, please immediately find an Earthdance Staff member. Earthdance will investigate all incidents reported with discretion, confidentiality, and urgency.
If we find that there has been a breach of this code then Earthdance will converse with individuals one on one and then through mediation with a facilitator. Earthdance is dedicated to utilizing nonviolent tools like: mediated conversations and non violent language, to assist us in conflict resolution. If these methods do not resolve the issue then we reserve the right to revoke, without refund, access to any event or program and you may be asked to leave the property.
This code has been developed to keep everyone feeling safe as possible, seen, and heard and we invite you to participate in all Earthdance programming and events with open-mindedness, integrity, honesty, curiosity, and respect. This is a living document that will be revised as we use it; we will continue to reflect on how these values work within our community, programming, and mission.
