With deep gratitude, we wish Jax Westhead, the Earthdance Operations Director, farewell. Jax has been key in keeping the ship of Earthdance running (and dancing) over the last 3 years. From logistics, endless emails, holding all the moving parts, to participation on the Equity & Access, and Programming Committees, as well as details of day to day operations, her commitment and efficiency were fierce. Jax, the Earthdance Board and staff thank you for your service and appreciate all you’ve done to support this organization, and the people who pass through its spaces. May you be happy and successful on your path forward. From Jax: What a journey these past years have been, returning to Earthdance for the position of Operations Director after almost 2 decades away and stepping into the complexity and beauty of all that this place is and is becoming. And while I started as the Ops Director, over the last 2 years and throughout the pandemic, my role expanded greatly. As Earthdance needed to pivot, I became the only full-time staff member, covering more of the critical areas. This meant constant attention behind the scenes to hold the many layers that go into any event and overall operating needs and oversight. Needless to say, there have been ups and downs …and for a variety of reasons, I have decided to depart from Earthdance. And as I begin to recalibrate my nervous system, I am able to reflect that through it all I have cared deeply and given profoundly. It was not always perfect, but I continually showed up for the dance. Over these years I have been moved by the many former volunteers, staff, community members and participants that I have had the honor and privilege to care for and get to know. And I have been incredibly grateful for so many that have returned that care of me. This is the greatest gift there is in my experience of life, because it is the care for one another that is at the center of all things. I hope Earthdance finds its footing into the unknowns of the future and continues to discover how to sustainably care for all the people that continue to give so much. Take good care with yourselves and one another… In Gratitude, Jax |
