Martha Eddy

Martha Eddy, Ed.D., CMA – Educational Consultant. Martha Eddy has taught nationally and internationally in both academic and arts institutions, specializing in wellness, perception, movement/dance, and dealing with trauma. She has established The Center for Kinesthetic Education (www.WellnessCKE.net and www.EyesOpenMinds.org) with programs for children and educators, and Moving On Center’s Dynamic Embodiment Somatic Movement Therapy Training (DE-SMTT). She currently consults in pre-K-12 education through CKE and teaches her somatic courses as part of SUNY/Empire State College Masters degree program.  She also teaches workshops with the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) at the Harkness Dance Center/92nd Street Y and continues to be a Co-Founder/director with Carol Swann of Moving On Center based in Oakland, CA, NY and Berlin-Cologne. Since the founding of MOC, she and Carol have been committed to developing and bringing "Social Somatics" into the educational and community realm. She serves as a Senior Project Advisor for Inner Resilience's Stress Reduction Days for teachers in the NYC. She began studies with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in 1976 and Irmgard Bartenieff in 1978. She taught on each of their certification programs for 10 years before creating DE-SMTT (www.DynamicEmbodiment.org). She performs periodically and co-choreographed www.GlobalWaterDances.org. Her work with violence prevention and conflict work with children in public schools is represented through www.EmbodyPeace.org. Finally her current focus is on the role of movement in cancer recovery (www.MovingforLife.org).
