Ione Beauchamp

Ione Beauchamp MFA, RSMT, RYT is a dancer, choreographer and somatic movement
educator with specialties in The Trager Approach, Body-Mind Centering and Yoga.  Ione
received her MFA in Dance from NYU and her BA in Dance, from Barnard College.  She
has taught Dance Technique, Movement Improvisation and Experiential Anatomy at
UAlbany and Bennington College, amongst others.  Her choreography has been
presented at numerous festivals throughout the US, NYC and abroad.  As a “downtown
dancer” in NYC she performed with a variety of choreographers, including Bill Young,
Peggy Peloquin, Danny Lepkoff, Diane Frank & Debby Riley, Nina Weiner, 5 By 2 Plus,
and taught for Movement Research.  She collaborated with Teri Carter and was a
founding member of Carter’s Mixed-Ability group Mobility Junction.  While with MJ, she
taught master classes and conducted workshops exploring dance for performance with
integrated populations of physically disabled and able-bodied movers.  Since moving to
upstate NY, she has worked with Wire Monkey Dance (on scaffolding), and is currently a
member of Troy- based Emergent Scores Lab (ESL).
