Amanda Turk

Amanda grew up in a very musical family and was exposed to percussion at an early age by her father who was a kit drummer. In 2006 she met her teacher, Raquy Danziger, and discovered the dumbek, a type of tabla. Since then Amanda has immersed herself in the study of Middle Eastern and other forms of percussion, specifically a style called the Turkish Split Hand Technique, and has traveled to Turkey and Egypt to learn from some of the masters of this form. She is passionate about sharing this unique flavor of music at various community events near and far.
