The Nomadic College (NC) is an annual gathering organized by the Axis Syllabus Research Community hosting workshops, lectures, a choreographic laboratory, jams and artist residencies. After many years traveling all across Europe, the NC is happy to return to North America in June 2012 to reside at the beautiful Earthdance.
Angie Hauser is a dance-artist and teacher. Her work and research is grounded by questions of improvisation, performance, and collaboration. Since 2000, Angie has been a member of the Bebe Miller Company. She received a 2006 BESSIE award for her work with the company. Her dancemaking projects include collaborations with many gifted artists including Chris Aiken, K.J. Holmes, Darrell Jones, Andrew Harwood, and Kathleen Hermesdorf. She has also danced with the companies of Elizabeth Streb, Liz Lerman, and Poppo Shiriashi.
Chris Aiken is a leading international teacher and performer of dance improvisation and Contact Improvisation.

Session 2 | The Tuning Score
The Tuning Score, a performance research format, asks what do we see when we're looking at dance. How does composition arise in the body and its environment? The research focuses on the physical base of the imagination.
Steve Paxton has researched the fiction of cultured dance and the 'truth' of improvisation for 40 years. He performed with the Merce Cunningham Dance Co. from 1961-65, and was one of the founders of the Judson Dance Theater, Grand Union, Contact Improvisation, and Touchdown Dance for the visually impaired (UK). He lectures, performs, choreographs, and teaches primarily in the US and Europe. In recent years, he has presented work at MOMA, at DIA Chelsea and Beacon, and was awarded the Golden Lion from the Venice Biennale and a NY Bessie Lifetime Achievement Award.
