Action Theater Improvisation: Minding the Physical

In improvisation and in life, embodied experience opens doors into mindfulness, playfulness, and the present moment. This workshop in Action Theater improvisation offers practices that have their roots in sensation -  where the body draws the mind into full presence of feeling. 

Brad Stoller

Brad Stoller has been leading CI workshops and classes since 1983. He studied under the talented male dancers of "Mangrove," a SF based collective. He has taught in festivals in Europe, the U.S. and Africa, and teaches CI at the University of Virginia and other colleges around VA. He is a regular host and teacher at the Moab Jam in Utah every spring. He has never waned in his awe of CI since being exposed to it over 35 years ago.

Fritha Pengelly

Fritha Pengelly is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner® based in Northampton, MA. She graduated from the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program at the Feldenkrais Institute of NY where she studied with director David Zemach-Bersin, Sheryl Field, Anna Johnson, Aliza Stewart, Arlyn Zones, Ruty Bar, Deborah Bowes, and Elizabeth Beringer. She has also had the pleasure of studying with Dr. Jeff Haller, and is currently enrolled in Dr.

Acrobatics of the Heart

A two-week immersion in Grotowski-based physical acting training with master teacher Stephen Wangh (author of An Acrobat of the Heart and The Heart of Teaching) and co-teachers Erica Fae, Wendy vanden Heuvel and Raïna von Waldenburg. The Acrobatics of the Heart intensive offers training in an organic approach to acting using the body as source, initiated by Jerzy Grotowski in the 1960’s and further developed by Stephen Wangh.

Finding Strength through Ease: A Feldenkrais Workshop

“Correct posture is a matter of emotional growth and learning. It is not acquired by simple exercising or by repetition of the desired act or attitude. Learning is not purely a mental occupation, as many people believe, just as the acquisition of skill is not purely a physical process. Essentially, it consists in recognizing in the total situation – environment, mind, and body - a relationship in the form of sensation that in the long run becomes so distinct that we can almost describe it in sensible language."

4th Sunday CI Class & Jam with Jen Nugent

Every fourth Sunday of the month, the dance floor becomes a learning lab for Contact Improvisation. Old- and new-timers discover the form together with a class that leads easefully into a jam. All dance levels and styles are welcome!

Jam: $8-12 sliding scale | 5-7pm

We welcome one and all to this bi-annual work party. From building to brainstorming, we create Earthdance's future. The weekend includes a range of projects to choose from: building garden beds, chopping wood, setting up tent cabins, washing windows, and more! Our growth is dependent upon YOUR participation; come leave your mark on Earthdance's legacy!

This year's annual meeting will focus on architectural plans for the Farmhouse with renovations scheduled to begin in Fall 2015.
