Through extended exercises Benoît Lachambre offers methods of awakening for the body. This leaves individuals free to follow their own aesthetics as they deepen their alignment and sensorial awareness. The goal is to pursue an awakened spirit and the shifting relationships with self, and to encourage self-reflection on the experience of awareness. While performance skill is important, the aim is an awakening of the body through the necessary application of accurate and non-superfluous effort. This process offers the simultaneous opening and recognition of inner and outer movement dynamics. This holistic embrace of movement patterns permits multiple variations in reorganizing the body in its own creative definition.
Biography
A daring and innovative artist, Benoît Lachambre has been evolving in the international dance community for more than twenty-nine years as choreographer, dancer, improviser, and teacher. He has devoted himself to an exploratory approach of movement and its sources, and to seeking authenticity of motion, offering workshops based on research, improvisation, and body consciousness. In 1996, Lachambre created his company Par B.L.eux , devoted to contemporary and interdisciplinary choreographic creation in close connection with an international network of artists. His dance is based on dynamic exchanges made up of the coming together of various artistic processes and concepts. Comfortable passing from metaphor, to theory, to diverse practices, Lachambre transforms eclecticism into a multiplication of complementary activities. He seeks to incorporate the dynamics of communication and perception in his process.
