Earthdance invites you to participate in  SEEDS (Somatic Experiments in Earth, Dance + Science) , the first annual three-week festival this July 27 - August 17, 2008. The festival offers workshops, interdisciplinary projects and public events: panel discussions, film festival, land use projects and a celebration.  You can participate in the whole festival or attend a portion.  See below to learn about our local community events.


PERFORMANCES:

Friday, August 1, 8 pm: Kalaruci . Kalaruci is innertime, the oneness of earth moon sun.  Kala is time; ruci is the holy little one in our selves. Performed by Suprapto Suryodarmo (from Indonesia). $5.

Saturday, August 2, 8 pm: Land Mass . A film, sound, and dance piece - created and performed by Daniel Lepkoff.  Know nature intimately. $5.

Friday , August 8, 8 pm. La Foret des Signes . Performed by Olivier Besson and Emanuelle Pepin. Noir woodland, strife + sensuality. $5.

Saturday, August 9, 8 pm. Faculty Performances , Western Massachusetts Moving Arts Festival. August 10, 8pm. With Ming-Shen Ku and Dancers (Taiwan), Jennifer Monson (U.S.), Tony Vacca (U.S.),  Lailye Weidman (U.S.) and others! $5 At Earthdance. [413] 634 -5678.

Saturday, August 16, 8pm. Extending Infinitely Into Mystery, An Opening to the Unknown Performance. With seasoned dancers Andrew de Lotbinière Harwood, Chris Aiken, Angie Hauser, Stephen Yoshen, and Lani Nahele; Musicians Peter Jones; and Visual Artist Bill Arnold. $10.

Saturday, August 16 - All Day . COMMUNITY DAY CELEBRATION . Including, Hop! Hop! Hop! All ages movement score. Walk in the Woods with Melinda Buckwalter.  Dwell The Reweaving teahouse presentation .   And performances: Dancing with Forest and Extending Infinitely into Mystery . Thursday, July 31, 8 pm. COMPLICITIES WITH RACISM AND ADVANCING ANTI-RACISM IN THE 21ST CENTURY: IS BARACK OBAMA RIGHT? With Dr. Enoch Page, Associate Professor of Anthropology Department, UMASS. A presentation: 'There is racism in the valley'; and a discussion, 'Is there racism in the Hilltowns?' [By donation].

Tuesday, August 5, 8pm. SCI ART. A panel on the nature of artistic and scientific collaborations. Monday, August 11, 8 pm. SOMATICS, AESTHETICS, AND ECOLOGY.  The responsivity of the artist to their materials and environment is related to cellular dynamics and ecological systems. With Chris Aiken  (dance professor and improviser, Ursinus College, U.S.), Andrew de l. SEEDS PUBLIC COMMUNITY CELEBRATION:
The SEEDS Celebration is an all-ages public celebration of our land and our festival's offerings. We will present a host of workshops, offerings, performances, and conversations on arts and ecology. This is a great day to stop by Earthdance see the fruits of the SEEDS we have planted. You are welcome to participate in the daytime workshops and showings, and come to our evening events.
