Moving the Environment: Questions into Form with Danny Lepkoff

December 10, 2015 - 5:00pm - December 13, 2015 - 3:00pm

In this work, the form and composition of our ongoing interactions with our environment are considered as "danced composition". The work can be applied directly to performance and is open toward anyone who is interested in movement as a language for communication.

This workshop offers practical tools for researching our functional movement and reflexes. Specific exercises look at the details inside of ordinary movement: walking, standing, crawling, reaching, lying in stillness, seeing, rolling to our side, running, pushing, eating, drinking and so on.

Move, Touch & Be Moved with Kirstie Simson

September 24, 2015 - 5:00pm - September 27, 2015 - 3:00pm

What moves us and why?

There is deep inspiration and rigor in a practice of improvisation that posits vulnerability at its heart. Developing the skills to be able to care for, engage, respect and respond to that state of vulnerability in oneself and others gives life to improvisation that is powerful and transformative.

Listen Up! with Michelle Boulé

November 5, 2015 - 5:00pm - November 8, 2015 - 3:00pm

When given free reign, we all have a lot to say. Whether it's amplifying, turning down, or refining the voices in our heads and bodies, this workshop will help deepen our listening and turn it into fruitful, efficient, and meaningful action. We will employ information from various somatic and performative practices, using guided improvisations as a means to connect to information deep in our bodies and psyches. We’ll also write, read, watch and perform for each other as a way to further relate to our own practices of listening.
