Rob Flax

Rob Flax is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator from Evanston, IL with a playful heart and an open mind. He has performed locally, nationally, and internationally with groups of many different styles, including opening for B.B. King and Tower of Power, collaborations with dancers and filmmakers (including work on the soundtrack of James Franco’s film As I Lay Dying), and several original projects. Rob is a recent graduate of the New England Conservatory (M.M.

Jason Cohen

Jason Cohen plays the Hang drum, accordion, keyboards, and other percussion. Creator of Forestdance, Sacred World Interdependence Day, and founder of Unifier Festival, he has experienced and facilitated numerous healing and expressive arts rituals around the world. He plays for sacred ceremonies during all night rites, often till dawn. Whether in the red woods, the Yucatan, Costa Rica, Maui, or in his home state of Massachusetts, his improvisations flow and inspire the dance and total bliss in all who listen.

Join us Saturday, February 20th at 24 Main St. in Northampton, MA for an evening of performances by local artists and participants of E|MERGE: Interdisciplinary Collaborative Residency followed by dancing with DJ Hip Sockit (aka Brando).

Ronja Ver

Ronja Ver is a dancer and dance maker, teacher, mother, activist, and lifetime student of performance as meaning-making. Her choreographic work addresses current issues through movement, sound, and awkward audience participation; technical but unpolished, often working with extreme physical states to invite a visceral, nonverbal place of relating.

René Alvarez

René Alvarez (Oakland, CA) once a recreational slam dancer, rediscovered love for dance upon moving to San Francisco in 1999. René trained and performed as a fire dancer while living with the Infinite Kaos collective in their warehouse event space. René began to study Contact Improvisation (CI) in 2000 at the 848 community space, and would eventually transition to focus on CI as a primary movement form.
