CIGR is a week-long artist residency for seasoned improvisation dancers to engage in research and pedagogy through open dancing, labbing and discussion, culminating in the Spring Equinox Jam. Romain Bigé

Romain Bigé is a dancer, philosophy teacher and dance scholar based in Paris, France. An agrégé of philosophy, he is currently pursuing a PhD in the École Normale supérieure on the Poetics of Contact Improvisation and the concept of movement in contemporary French philosophy (bergsonism and phenomenology). He is interested in the way movement practices shape sensory cartographies and give way to original modes of relating to others.

2017 Spring Equinox Jam

Bodies tumble and energy flows as we melt away the layers of winter and dive into Spring with the practice of Contact Improvisation. Open to all ages, backgrounds, levels, and styles of dancing.

The Spring Equinox Jam is preceded by CIGR (CI Ground Research), a week-long Contact Improvisation artist residency. Find out more and apply HERE.

Jori Snell

Jori Snell is a freelance physical performing-artist and dancer (Holland/Denmark), educated at The Institute of Scenic Arts in Italy and Nordic Theatre School in Denmark. Since 1998 she founded her own theatre: Baba Yaga Theatre, and works as a freelance performer and educator in Europe and is now based in South Africa, where she performs, directs and runs regular classes in Contact Improvisation. She has worked as a dancer/performer for Corona la Balance (Denmark), Panthéâtre, Roy Hart Theatre (France), Odin Teatret (Denmark) and FTH:K (South Africa).

2nd Sunday Music & Movement Jam with Mike Vargas

January 8, 2017 - 8:00pm - 10:00pm

Every 2nd Sunday of the month, our Umbrella Studio swells with improvised movement and music. A live soundscape for dancing is provided by a local musician. Dance and music dialogue together. All dance levels and styles are welcome!

Bring your own instruments to join in after 10pm. $10-15 sliding scale.

Community SING & Potluck with Penny Schultz

One Sunday a month, Earthdance Co-Founder and community member, Penny Schultz, brings us together to raise our voices in joyful harmony. Songs from around the world celebrate the earth, love, and community. No singing expertise is required, and people of all ages are invited to join!
