The Works-in-Progress by Artists-in-Residence showing is at 6:30.

Once a month the Umbrella Studio fills with a celebration of movement and music!  A live soundscape is provided by a local musican.  Bring your own instruments to join in after 10pm.

All dance levels and styles are welcome. 

This month we have Moti Zemelman who plays vocal-electronic music for dancers, performers, and lovers of sound.  In 2007 he released his debut CD, Doorwaves.  His music is inspired by the love and practice of dancing, teaching and playing music for Contact Improvisation.  Moti's vocal acrobatics range from Gyoto monk throat singing to perfect trumpet imitations to alien utterances.  Using electronic loopers and effects to create vocal layers he is a one-man bazaar.  If Bobby McFerrin and Moby had a baby...

Moti Zemelman

Mark Moti Zemelman has been practicing Contact Improv since 1988 and teaching and performing for thirteen years across the USA,  Europe, Israel, Guatemala, Mexico, and Canada. He performed on sets of scaffolding with Wire Monkey Dance Company from 2000-02, and plays ambient vocal-electronic music for Contact Jams. Other training he's done includes yoga, Action Theater, modern dance, stilt walking, and clowning.
